I was looking @ 7-13-06 until 7-20-06 (but this is flexible +- 3days) for a flight from SFO (airline does not matter that much, AA or DL would be ok) with 7 nights in a 4*+ hotel (location does not matter much).
I found the Hawaii Prince Hotel (@HNL) with a DL flight for $999 p.P. @ Priceline (other sites were $1200+). There are also a bunch of 'resorts' available, are they worth the additional $400 p.P.?
Is it a good time of the year to book this trip for July? Are better offers coming out later in the year?

For the travel period you're looking to book, $999 per person with hotel and airfare is a pretty good deal. That roughly breaks down to $142/night.
The only downfall to the Hawaii Prince is that it has no beach--you must walk over to the HHV to get to Waikiki Beach (or the other way to Ala Moana Beach Park, if you so desire). Otherwise, it's a good hotel with stunning views of the ocean--though financial unstable (insider info). If your parents don't mind having the beach in a reasonable walking distance (one of the reasons why the Prince is pretty cheap), then I'd suggest booking it.
