I have a ticket (economy) to fly from Chicago to Johannesburg through Atlanta, connecting to South African Airways in Atlanta. My travel agent said that our baggage allowance is based on 2 pieces at 32 kg (70 lbs.) each plus a very small carryon bag. I checked the SAA website and this is correct. However, there is a connection via Delta from Chicago, and I don't know if Delta will insist on their baggage allowance of 2 X 50 lb bags plus a 40lb. carryon bag. The total weight on the aircraft will be about the same, but it will make a difference in how I distribute the weight among the bags if the 50 lbs. limit applies. I'm not sure if I should post this here with Delta or on the Middle East/African forum, or both. Can someone here tell me what rules will apply?
