Just completed a stay at the Westin Grand. Booked a Grandview Studio suite and was assigned a room on the 31st floor with view to the West and an oblique view to the north. Nice comfortable room.

Enquired about an upgrade and was told that they have put me in a Grandview suite with 2 beds..... essentially no upgrade as that is the room I booked!! With a guest from Japan I did not want to make a scene so I just dropped the matter altogether.

Service is quite amateurish throughout the hotel. The benefits of the Grandview rooms are key access, complimentary continental buffet breakfast, free wireless internet access, free water and fruit, and complimentary local and 1-800 calls. Seems the free wi-fi is free throughout the hotel for the month of December. A Concierge was to personally call us but never did nor did the water and fruit ever arrive.

Breakfast "service" was mediocre with only one server for the whole room (not that there were many patrons) but no Manager in sight. Quality was decent.

The location is great as are the views. The service was mediocre and our stay average. I think I prefer the Sheraton Wall Centre over the two Westin's in Vancouver. The Hampton Inn, two blocks away, offers superior value to that of the Westin for about half the price.
