I was thinking of the subways more than the buses. The former affects me, the latter doesn't. A bit selfish, yes .... but I'm hoping by the time I'm back this whole mess will be over.
Pataki could say to workers, show up tomorrow, on the terms of our previous final offer, else you're fired --
for good. At the same time, announce that jobs will be available in two days to experienced bus drivers. He could also set up a plan to have managers and some new hires have a few key subways lines running within a week or so.
The key here is that it is a plausible plan, and that large numbers of workers would show up for work tomorrow.
