B and Q discount card
The "original Mrs Spotwelder" had a relative known as Uncle Stan, who, having been a salesman, was always after negotiating a discount on purchases. When in the US a few years ago, he noticed that various discounts were offered if you held the right cards, no doubt only open to US residents.
At the checkout counter, he whips out his B&Q card and places it down and asks for a 15% discount. The "checkout operator" then looks puzzled at the card and states that he does not recognise the card and what the hell is B&Q anyway?
Uncle Stan now gives out the perfect answer "Why, do you not recognise B&Q, it is the famous Bush and Quayle card which allows discounts at all true American stores endorsed by the White House for patriotic contributions to the nation".
The discount was put through the till. So the B&Q card used to work all over the US of AA.
