Hmmm. And they re-schedule flights +/- 6 hours at 2 days notice.

I don't believe there is any such thing as an in between airline. It either offers all or most the normal things a normal airline is meant to - assigned seating, drinks/snack, airports within 50miles of the city they are meant to be in, non-scary crew, fixed schedules, taking some care of passengers in the event of cancellation/delays. Or it doesn't.

Isn't "medium cost" a term people invent, to make them feel better about flying crappy airlines.
