This is just like those scams on EBay. The "winner" must pay:
- The auction bid price of $20+
- "$35.00 non-refundable processing & handling fee"
- $3.00 Shipping for Priority Mail
The "auctions" are structured in such a way that nearly every bidder is a "winner".
The "winner" must:
- "submit your winning travel certificate by mail within 30 days of the winning bid." If you want to change the terms
- pay for nights at a hotel rack rate, for 5-7 nights domestic and 10-14 nights international.
- Accept the flight that is booked for them, regardless of connections and layovers.
- Adhere to other terms & Conditions that will arrive with the certificate.
Let's say you go for a domestic trip. You can be charged up to $945 for lodging, not including the $50+ you already shelled out. (BTW, are the rates "per room" or "per person"? What about taxes and "additional handling fees"?) Typically, you can purchase a flight for 2 on Hotwire and rooms for less on Expedia or any other method with a little leg work.
Let us know when you receive the certificate and the additional Terms & Conditions. I hope this works out for you, but have a feeling it won't.
