If you do switch to either JFK or EWR, be warned that both the LIRR and Jersey Transit are experiencing far higher volumes as commuters take this rather than subway/buses/cars (from Queens) or cars (from NJ). The reports from commuters in my office is that you simply need to allot some extra time as the trains are running short in some cases to free them up for other routes, which means there is the possibility of having to wait for the 'next' train to actually get on with luggage.
