It does amuse me as well, the English preconceptions about grammar schools. The "Grammar" school was the worst school in my city - it wasn't what most people thought of as a grammar school, it was basically just a comprehensive that had the word grammar in the school title. Nevertheless, I'm sure those that are worried about such things would assume someone from there had a better education than me, who went to one of the best (comprehensive) schools in the city - mine was only named after a saint afterall, no pretentious words in the title to mislead.... but on the other hand, if I want to mislead, I can go around telling everyone I attended a public school - I did, under the Scottish definition (where public schools are not the equivalent of private schools )
