Walk through the Sepulveda tunnel?

In the spirit of this thread about walking to (from) LAX--

Next month I'll need to get to a location just south of LAX, at the far end of the Sepulveda Blvd tunnel. I won't be in any great rush, and I also won't have a car.

Is this walkable? I'm a tough pedestrian, and I don't mind aggressive traffic, i.e. waiting until there's an opportunity to cross a busy street or tunnel exit, etc. And I won't have many bags or other encumbrances. That said, I can't walk along a tunnel that doesn't have a pedestrian area, presumably one that's a bit raised above the traffic level.
