5% translates to about 130 cancelled flights/day, assuming 2,600 scheduled flights/day. Before overtime flying went down, DL averaged about 40 cancellations. The current DL schedule still doesn't reflect the pre-cancellations that DL put into effect in mid-Dec. Officially, the lack-of-overtime cancellations show up in the 5% rate.
When the new schedule period starts Apr 1, we will see significant reductions in planned flying. The total number of flights/day will probably remain the same as now, but the cancel rate will fall.
