A short 10 minute cab drive will take you to the "Edison Park" neighborhood of Chicago. Located up and down Northwest Highway are a few very nice sit down restaurants.
Fav on my list is Zia's Trattoria 6699 Northwest Highway - more upscale Italian. It's not on the menu, but the soft shelled crab appetizer is heavenly!
Right across the street and 5 doors down is Nonno Pino. 6718 Northwest Highway - more rustic Italian.
Just down the street is Nam Viet 6731 Northwest Highway. Excellent Vietnamese!
In the mood for steak? Elliot's (across the street from Zia's ) 6690 Northwest Highway has great steaks and chops (a little more pricey).
Don't bother with Don Juan's (Mexican) very run of the mill.
Want dining miles? On Canfield and Talcott is a little Italian place called Nonna Silvia's - 1408 S. Canfield. Basic Italian - but good.
Just up the street in downtown Park Ridge is also Maki Sushi - more of a fusion type of Sushi - but all the "stars" order from there when they are playing at the Allstate Arena.
Just across the street from Maki Sushi is a Tapas place.
An interesting little place is Walter's of Park Ridge. They have a kind of New Orleans atmosphere. Added bonus is that Walter's is on the United Dining program.
I've eaten multiple times at each of these places - I live in the area. Food is very good to excellent. All are nice sit down places, business casual attire is just fine.
Just direct your cabbie to take the Kennedy Expressway east and get off at Cumberland Ave - north. (This is only about 3 exits from when you leave the airport). Take Cumberland to the first light - Higgins (There's a Dominicks at the corner). Make a right (east bound now) and go to the very next light - Canfield. Make a left (north) on to Canfield and continue until it stops at Northwest Highway (3 lights - Talcott, Devon, Northwest Highway) (you will pass Nonna Silvia's on the way). Make a right and go 3 blocks to the next light (Oliphant). Zia's is on the corner, Elliots, Nonno Pino and Nam Viet are all on the same block.
If you make a left when you reach Northwest Highway, you will end up in Downtown Park Ridge. Maki Sushi and the Tapas restaurant are on Northwest Highway about 6 blocks away just as you pass the next light (There will be a huge church on your left). Have a great dessert at Oberweiss dairy - best ice cream in town.
Any questions?
