Yes, UA says 60 minutes for domestic. The online boarding pass says so.

I missed my flight at Dulles one Sunday evening, even though I checked in online and arrived at the airport 65 minutes early. The security lines were massive. Oh, and the two little old lady gate agents closed the flight 15 minutes early, when there were at least 15 passengers from my flight behind me. That's around 10% of a 757. Why? So they could go home early, bless their little hearts. (I assume this, because they were on my mobile lounge back to the main terminal.) You might say 15 minutes is the policy, blah blah, but I'm sorry, you can make an exception on the last flight out when you know the security lines are ridiculous and at least 10% of the passengers might show up in the next 5 minutes. They still could have had an on-time departure.

The United CSR at Dulles put me on a flight the next morning but blamed me for the mistake. She said they have no control over TSA. She said she was doing me a "favor" by not charging me a $100 rebooking fee. She said that as a Premier, I should know to arrive earlier than 60 minutes the flight.

First, I think it's a lie that they have no control over security. (1) If they had no control over security lines, then how would elite security lines exist? (And if it's true that security lines are completely controlled by the government, then it's wrong that elite lines exist. We all pay the same taxes.) (2) At some airports, airline employees will allow passengers in danger of missing their flights to skip the security line. If airlines had no control over security, this practice would not occur.

Second, it's ON THE BOARDING PASS to arrive 60 minutes early. The airline should accept responsibility if this turns out to be too little time.

Man, I hate Dulles and every UA employee who works there.
