Just got back from Rome. Did find the nightlife difficult to sort out. Seems like the Hangar is a good place to start out. Some clubs charge 6 euro and up to get in, then prepare to pay a lot for beverages. An Italian beer was 6 euro, and not that tastey. Most clubs don't open until 10:30pm or later, with a crowd not arriving until midnight, even on weekdays. I don't know about you, but after a day of sightseeing, shopping, and very late dinner, we were hard pressed to muster the energy to find these places. A taxi is a must unless the bar happens to be within walking distance to your hotel. Good luck. My experience has been that the further south one goes in Italy, the harder it is to find a gay bar. Forget about a bar to drop into for a break from the sightseeing or for a before dinner drink. Seems the norm there is to meet a guy on the street ( did that ) or cruise a toilet. Can't take him to your hotel room, he can't take you home because he still lives with his mother even though he's 30 years old. So my advice is to save your energy and money for the food, the sights, and the shopping when in Rome. Now, Florence is another story. Tabasco & Crisco, ahh, fond memories. His name was Claudio.
