Our tickets were award tickets with NW miles too and we were able to get seat assignments instantly (in fact much further out than the 90 day window that NW uses). Call the MH Business class line at 888-627-8477 and you can get them to give you a seat assignment. If you are not in the US, I dont know what the local # for you to call is, but you should be able to get seat assignments now.
