A few years ago my brother and sister-in-law got married in Florence, but the week prior, we all stayed in a small farmhouse my mom had rented in a tiny little village in the Tuscan countryside. Alitalia lost the luggage of one of his best friends (can't remember if he flew into Rome or Milan). Since getting from Rome/Milan to the farmhouse was a long trip, the village where we were staying was little more than a dot on a map with few roadsigns, house numbers etc., we had no cell phone, there was the language barrier, etc., we were not expecting to see his luggage. But sure enough, after a couple of days an Alitalia van pulled up to the farmhouse with his luggage on board. Never say never...
