I'm in Rome at the moment and have had a very hard time finding the right place to go out. Even with all the internet sites, the local guide and my Spartacus it has been a real adventure.
It's true that everything is spread out and I'll add that places are pretty specific as to the kind of crowd that will fit in there. I don't think it's a place that embraces tourists either. I haven't really had anyone smile and come up to me like they have in other cities or like we would do at home when we see someone who looks a little out of place. (another matter on the streets though I've had some very helpful locals set me on the right path when they've seen me with my map).
I found an amazing place called QUBE and it is gay on Friday night (only). I got there at the end of a night of searching and was having so much fun until suddenly it all came to an end. Dontcha hate that??? I then discovered how there are NO taxis to be found in this city when you really need one and how easy it is to get lost walking the streets (no jokes please

).
I've been to a few cruisy bars with backrooms, which I enjoy, but I don't really fit in because of my age I think. Too pretty? Maybe! No, but I think the problem is most people assume I am a rent boy hanging out there and so don't waste their time. LOL.
Apart from that it's been a real mess of a time. I say enjoy Rome for the food, the shopping and the amazing sightseeing. It really is full of buildings and relics that make your heart stop. And there are so many handsome men you see when you are walking around that also make your heart stop. If only I could crack the scene this would be the highlight of my travels!
