that's part of the new security model -- they want to see someone coming...

but that's also the point of the mesh curtains -- they're see-thru! from the second-to-last row on a continental flight last week, i was able to see thru the curtain and into first class. CO's curtain has a solid border, but is mostly see-thru mesh. visibility is not impaired, but it puts a clear line between the cabins. i liked it. (that and the 180 knot tailwind were pretty much the only things i liked about that flight. :-) )
