Most of the big BA longhaul routes are in before 2PM so it's typically a cost-effectiveness issue I think. To keep it open for the rest of the day for a smattering of pax just isn't sensible probably. Add to that the fact it really makes more sense for the morning arrivals anyway - land, shower, fresh clothes, breakfast, right in to work for the rest of the day. For flights landing after 2PM, by the time you're out and in to London/home, a lot of people probably just call it a day and don't plan on needing to be very refreshed for a full schedule. I say a lot...I'm sure there are some super-important types who cram in meetings at every opportunity, but I still think this is the minorty
