I remember watching a tv show sometime in the last 5 years about air crashes. I don't recall the exact numbers, but there is a formula used to calculate whether an aircraft defect is repaired. Part of the formula was the cost of a passenger death. I seem to recall a number in the $1.2M-1.5M range. I wonder how much flying that would pay for? Of course, that money goes to heirs. No amount of money would compensate me for my death.
