If those words derived from a Sanskrit equivalent, then here's my guess: Bhumi is Sanskrit for land / earth. Suvarna means something like "Of a good color" or perhaps "Of a golden color". Therefore, Suvarnabhumi may mean "land of a good color" or "land of a golden color".
Sounds like a nice place!
(I googled for the Sanskrit meanings... my Sanskrit is horribly rusty)
