I have a friend who was on the AA plane that rolled off of the runway in Little Rock years ago; I believe 11 people died (including some people from his group) (
http://www.planecrashinfo.com/1999/1999-13.htm). He survived the crash and doesn't seem to be the litigious type so I believe he worked a deal with AA where he waived litigation and received free flying for life on AA.
He once told me that they put a cap on him; so many miles per year; but he has surpassed that cap by calling AA and reminding them he was on one of their planes that was on fire at the end of the runway. He has EXP credentials on his briefcase and I imagine he doesn't fly coach.
Does anyone else know of any stories like this?
Also, comments welcome on this strategy as a way to avoid litigation and compensate passengers involved in tragedies.
