Of course, at which time the person says, "I have a reservation under "smartassmurf." Even if the person I have made the reservation for gives them their name, the reservation has stayed in my name, and their name is just added to the notes.
This has never been questioned, I may just have been lucky with the numerous hotels I stay at...but it is numerous!
I have even had hotels split the points between two peoples priority club numbers before on request, they have always been more than accomodating.

I do this often, and have ALWAYS received the points and stay credit!
How did the hotel even know you weren't staying in the room?
Whenever points didn't post, I just send a point discrepancy report and fax them the folio if they request it, never had an issue at all!
Don't you have to check in before you get your key card?
