There are really three issues here, content hardware and training.
Clearly the hardware made by Rockwell is a total waste of money. DL has had if fixed and fixed and replaced and fixed. Still, it does not work properlly (another wise decision by DL, probably lowest bidder). Of the last 4 transaltlantic flights I have been on with DL, all 4 needed re-boots of the system and one needed to be rebooted 5 times and finally they gave up and we had one chanel to watch.
Training - I have found that most of the time the FAs do not know how to properly work the system. While it is true that some FAs are better then others, DL has either failed to train properly or does not have enough FAs who are smart enough to run the system (I hate saying this as an FA is not supposed to have to be able to outsmart a windows LIKE operating systems.)
Content, I find it to be fine in Biz/E, some months are good, some are not, but there is enough choice that I am happy. When I do 3 or more transatlantics in a month (I think my record on DL is 6 in one month) the choices do get repetitive and boaring, but clearly DL does not have enough flyers like me to change the movies every day or every week.
Solution be told - real time live TV like jet blue. Maybe one day DL will have this with internet access, and then instead of movies I will be forced to deal with e-mail the entire flight.
By the way, CO show more movies in the back then DL and the system tells you when the cycle will start again. I though COs system was much better then DL.
