Let you tell you from someone of European descent that it is not about nationality
here, it is about flight experiences.
I started of with the same attitude as you guys did and today, I like UA much
better than LH. Ok, mainly because of MP which is about 10000 times better
than M&L but also because - and I cannot stress this enough - their seats
in Y and C offer much more space, width and lengths, and recline than
LH does - on the routes I fly.
On the Asian routes I use LH, the planes are old and shabby, and the business
class is simply terrible. Plus LH makes me fly over the worst airport in the universe
FRA. All things that UA does not impose on me.
So yes, on a few US routes, you may end up with a posh new LH bird that
actually has such a thing as business class but the majority of the world is
covered with the old trashy Lufthansa I know.
But I guess it is much more fun to fortify ones prejudice of how beautiful the
own home-carrier is based on a single flight than actually spending
some search on why the guys in UA forum like UA better.
