Had jet fuel been priced at $2+/gallon when the A380 was announced, my guess is that Airbus would still be waiting for the first order. Same for the 747. Fuel hogs don't sell well when gas spikes upward.

If fuel gets back to $1/gallon (still nearly double its level of 5-6 years ago), then I see the hogs garnering some additional orders.

Seems both the A380 and the 747 order books have been kinda stagnant lately.
