Anyway good news, I just saved a bunch of money on my British Airways flight

I called up and explained to them. Basically the thing that got me is if you do a search and choose economy lowest price it comes up with a higher price. But when you search for premium economy lowest price it comes up with the sale prices. So the lady I spoke to was very helpful. She walked through the advertisment with me and spoke to a supervisor (at the online support number) who said he would refund it to me if I book the new flight and then call back with the confirmation number.

So I went to book it and it said my card was declined by the bank. Tried it again, same thing. I called the bank who said they saw the authorization pending but BA said they had no record...clearly the bank was wrong. It's just pending but won't go through. I had to use a different card and got it. Called back and they started to process the cancellation of the old fare.

Here is what it would have cost

IAD-LHR WT+ January 5th 21:55
LHR-IAD WT January 18th, 15:00

Total: $702

With sale

IAD-LHR WT+ January 5th 21:55
LHR-IAD WT+ January 18th, 15:00

Total: $554!!!!!!

150 dollars less plus the upgrade both ways. I'm quite satisfied...what's funny is now I think about it and it seems like I got the email after joining the EC after the first flight...but it comes up as it arrived in my email before I got the confirmation from the first flight, so maybe not. The lady thanked me for being clear in my explanation...

Either way, I'm happy and BA has definitely won my business in the future...provided the flight is great. Can't wait for my trip and to give a trip report on the flights...

Though I must admit I am slightly fearful of flying.
