I got this email about an hour ago, containing
"Beginning January 1, 2006, in addition to qualifying for AAdvantage Executive PlatinumŽ status with points or miles, AAdvantage members who fly 100 segments in 2006 will earn AAdvantage Executive Platinum status. If you typically fly many short flights during a year but have not been able to reach 100,000 points or miles, you could quickly advance to our highest elite level and enjoy benefits like complimentary upgrades* and confirmation of upgrades up to 100 hours in advance of your flight. "
It goes on to say that it is retroactive to 2005
