Am I missing something here???? I thought this is something we learned about in 3rd grade ... general science.

While headwinds may play a role, especially at this time of year, doesn't the answer have to do with the earth's rotation. The planet rotates from east to west. Even with absolutely no winds, the flight from SFO to BOS would be shorter in time because, after take-off in SFO, the earth is rotating towards you......in essence, Boston is moving closer towards you. Take off from BOS, and you have the "chase" SFO as it tries to move away from you while Earth rotates towards the west.

Is it too late in the day.....is my mind finally mushed?
