I think that encouraging Hertz to purchase less Ford cars and pick up other brands would be more effective. Let Hertz know that you won't rent Ford products and will only rent cars from other makers. Hertz does have cars from Honda and Toyota among others. This has the same trickle down effect but executed in a more positive way.
