I got an email reply from MTR about the 3-day tourist pass, and it confirms what christep says. It is indeed for 3 calendar days, not 72 hours. A calendar day means about first train of the day (about 6am) to last (just before 1am).

On the other hand, the 1-day $50 pass is good for 24-hours.
