In fact I would go futher to say the Co-Pay plus fare is RARELY ever more than the upgradeable international fare on NWA for the same route.
Plus you can upgrade B fares with 10k miles only ( and no Co-pay) which the "comprehensive " analysis of the AA upgrade structure conveniently manages to omit
