In Oz you have
Virgin Blue, who have some code shares with UA if booked with a UA international flight
Qantas
Jetstar (QF's low cost carrier)
Ozjet A new start up on MEL-SYD route

AKL-SYD has many carriers. Emirates (get UA miles), Thai and others. Look at Travel.com
