As miniscule as it may seem, CALs insistence on wrapping up the negotiations with it's FA by the end of this year tells me something is more than just in the talks at this point. The first half of 2006 should be vey interesting.
If CO and UA are indeed in talks, then I'd expect a press release & regulatory filing really soon or else the SEC will have a field day. IINM, corporate managers can keep merger talks a secret until a deal is finalized, but if managers' lips start flapping before then, they have to tell the complete truth on the existence of merger negotiations - anything less is potentially misrepresentation and/or fraud.
