Expedia now excluded from eligible rates
I recently did 3 Hyatt stays, booked thru Expedia, using a Mastercard and the "Japan" coupons, which Expedia split into 2 $100's and a $50. In each case, I paid the same rate as the prepaid "hyatt.com" rate, pulled off a GDS and not from some block of discount rooms, just like any other travel agency. I had incidentals at all three hotels, but only 2 of the three posted and not all of the bonuses, nor FFN credit, posted. At first, the supervisor of the supervisors told me that it is eligible, but that she needed to contact someone and would get back to me. So, a week long dialog with various supervisors and managers at Hyatt ensued, including an email from Karen, who told me that only bookings on Hyatt.com are eligible rates. Today, the final word is that Expedia (and probably Travelocity) bookings are not eligible for base points, bonuses nor stay credit.
Seems that American Express Travel Services and other TA's are eligible, but I would watch out. It would probably be the same issue with any prepaid rates.
Of course, the happy ending is that I received the same points and a FFN, as I expected, as a courtesy.
