This is how I lost my DVD "Pretty Woman". And yes, the one starring Julia Roberts. My assumption was the customs official hadn't seen that one yet, but already had my certainly more provocative "Basic Instinct" DVD.
I do believe that any product with "Made in Israel" on it may not be imported into Saudi Arabia from a legal standpoint. However the term "legal system" here seems to be pretty arbitrary.
Sorry for the late follow up here, but a couple of comments:
a) One (of many) potential reasons to look carefully at a Canadian passport is that covert intelligence agents have historically used them for travel b/c Canada's a relatively well-accepted country as compared with others (i.e. U.S. that might raise more trouble for someone who's trying to be discreet.) I'm not writing this out of any professed inside knowledge. It's just something I picked up from years of reading non-fiction accounts of Middle-East espionage.

As you note, they can't be
marked Made in Israel.
