We do not subscribe to cable or sattelite TV because, IMHO, most of what's on is junk and I don't want to become a couch potato.We have Bellsouth for our local phone service because it is my understanding that we need some way of getting internet (DSL) into our home.
So, at the very least, wouldn't we ween to keep some type of local phone service? If not, what would be my other options?
Telecom operators have to offer "stripped down DSL" by law, which means they have to offer you DSL without you having to order phone service from them.
Another option is to get super basic cable and add cable internet to that. THEN you can consider adding VOIP.
But I think that in the end this would get way to complicated if you just want a phone line.
