Thanks for the insight. Ok...this might be a "stupid" question, but again, I am new to phone technology and still have LOTS to learn.

We do not subscribe to cable or sattelite TV because, IMHO, most of what's on is junk and I don't want to become a couch potato.We have Bellsouth for our local phone service because it is my understanding that we need some way of getting internet (DSL) into our home.

So, at the very least, wouldn't we ween to keep some type of local phone service? If not, what would be my other options?
