There was a big story regarding this in one of the Finnish papers this week, where Finnair representatives stated the reasons for sticking to the MD-11: it's fast and it carries an unbeatable amount of belly cargo - a huge source of profit especially on the Asian routes. Of course the cheap prices for second hand models don't hurt either.
I'm actually quite delighted - it's a bit of variety in an ever homogonised industry! I'm sure the cheap prices and cargo profit are big factors in Finnair's desicion - I doubt they share my aesthethic concerns
