That may have been the case in the past......but based on my experience.....it's not a problem anymore
It seems that this specific problem was addressed and/or corrected around the time Delta redesigned their website and/or switched to a maximum of 2 transfers in each direction.
Over the last 2 months, I have been able to successfully price and subsequently book two 6-segment MRs at Delta.com.... both of which had less than a 4-hour turnaround time......instead of having to use Orbitz like I was forced to do earlier this year
Unlike back then....Delta.com seems to finally know how/when to break the fare into separate components for both directions and price it accordingly.
Note: Back when I used Orbitz, I even e-mailed Delta about this "problem" and mentioned having to use a 3rd party site......and I actually received a response that stated that they would forward my "concerns" to those handling the website.
