I just requalified as 1P for the second year in a row, but am considering taking next year "off" and cruising through 2006 as Premier Executive. This way, I would try to fly 50K during January-February 2007, and have uninterrupted 1P status through the rest of '07 and 2008.

I'm sure it's grueling (eg. equivalent of 4 trips SFO-Europe in two months?), but this tactic could potentially be less expensive, and has been discussed in the MR Seminars as being practiced regardless of airline.

I'm wondering if any UA flyers routinely attempt to requalify only every other year this way, and still enjoy uninterrupted elite status?
