Says volumes about the need to train law enforcement to recognize the mentally ill with whom they are dealing.
This doesn't say anything. A local case comes to mind where the family is quite upset with the police. The guy was a nutter, he was threatening people with a knife. They called the police, explained that he was nuts. The policeman goes in, the guy comes after him with the knife and of course gets blown away.
Yes, he was nuts and the officer knew that. The mere fact that the attacker is out of his mind does not change the actions of the defender.
