How are you going to feel if you found out you killed an innocent(which happened to be that one time aggressive) passenger which was proven later to have no bombs in their luggage. The standard for the use of deadly force is that you must reasonably believe the person poses an imminent threat to you or someone you are protecting. It says nothing about the reality of that threat. A reasonable simulation of a threat, even inadverntently, is legal justification.

Anyone who laughs on the way to the bank about it shouldn't be in that position. However there's a long distance between laughing on the way to the bank and allowing yourself to be frozen by the possibility that the threat isn't real.

For the flip side of this, look at the recent suicide bombing in Israel. A guard didn't fire due to the risk of the situation--5 dead, many more wounded.
