I've said it before and I'll say it again: Guns have NO place onboard an A/C. This terrible mistake is evidence of that.
Why is it a mistake? The FAMs did their job, they stopped the threat. Unlike the movies where 1 shot "always" stops the bad guy, reality is quite different; multiple rounds are usually necessary. Guns in the hands of trained individuals ARE a necessary deterent, as criminals don't care whether it's legal or not, they will bring them, explosives, or anything else they think they can get away with.
