I have to concur with kkg that if the only purpose are op-ups, they are rare--especially if you are traveling together. However, if you separate your PNRs, it would be worth it for her to get the bennies...
I wouldn't pay the cash just for the chance of getting an op-up. But I did wonder if a 1P and a 2P vs a 1P and a GM increases the chances from none to slim.
This came to mind on a trip from IAD to MUC over Thanksgiving. E was completely full and it appeared that at least a 20 folks were upgraded to C. Of course I have no way of knowing how many of these upgrades were op-ups.
I guess I'm just looking for any additional reasons to go ahead and spend the cash other than the obvious.
