I'm faced with the same issue with my wife. However, since she _almost_ always flies with me (1K), I decided that it wasn't worth spending the extra money to get her to 2P. Plus, I'm bringing her on a couple of trips early next year that'll get her to 2P before mid-year, so it wasn't worth the money for us.
