Bitter lemon hasn't been in the economy bars for at least a couple of years now. The reason was to allow for the inclusion of more popular splits, such as tonic water, sprite, diet coke etc. If you have been given it recently it was obtained from club/first. We are encouraged not to do this as it is not WT/+ product and distorts expectation, as in the experience of the op.
