I am not at all pleased with American Express. I called to link my Optima Card today with my three other AMEX Cards and was advised that another department wanted to speak to me. She placed me on hold and got back on the line and was advised nothing was wrong that they wanted to speak to me so that I would not be inconvenienced in the future. Being the persistent person that I am I wanted to know why the note was on there and again was advised not to worry about it, when she finally heard me getting upset she decided to put me through to the other department. It turns out my account had been suspended because of the recent charges on my account. My grandmother recently passed away and I paid for the funeral expenses just to earn the points and then traveled overseas with my entire family to bury her and used my AMEX for everything. I was advised that my Gold Card had been suspended and that I could either pay the entire balance due or submit verification of deposits. I am not sure if I should keep giving my business to AMEX because of this. It could have turned out to have been a very embarrassing experience if I would have been overseas or at a store. On AMEX Cards that have limits does this happen? My brother has an AMEX Platinum, Clear, Platinum Optima and Green. I would hate to see the ones with credit limits be declined due to the other cards.
PS: I am planning on paying the close to $10K before I get my statement, I wonder if this will help out a bit.
