No additional benefits on putting them on carry-ons, but they don't break easily there unless you throw your cabin bags around like the baggage handler does to your check in ones.
I dont have PPS tag on my carry-on but do have another tag, which is for those cases when need to check bag despite hoping to carry it on. Also helps identify when there are lots of bags in the locker, which one is yours.
And the yellow FT tag is invaluable for helping meet up with FTers of course.
