My wife and I stayed at the W in Westwood a couple of months ago while visiting our son at UCLA. (First time in a W) We were upgraded to four room suite. Exercise room, living room, den and bedroom with the best bed we ever slept in, stayed three nights and loved it. The room included a complementary catalog about purchasing virturaly everything in it except the four very large flat screen televisions.

We had stayed at the Westin LAX for two nights prior to our arrival at the W and liked that bed also but we loved the W bed. I am a Starwood platinum member and have slept in all the Sheraton and Four Points beds as well. I really did not want to buy another bed because the $1,600 mattress set we have, is less than three years old but we sure liked the W bed more than the one we had at home.

The W catalog and website offers two types of beds and if we bought another bed we wanted it to be exactly the same as the one we were sleeping in at the W. My wife and I pulled the covers off the bed one day and discovered the bed we slept in was the plush top not the pillow top model although it was made up with a mattress topper between the sheets and the mattress. I still could not justify paying $1,175 for a mattress set with a perfectly good bed at home. I did however make an inquiry about purchasing the bed directly from the manufacturer to save the $200 shipping charge. I live in the LA area and noted it was a distribution point for the mattresses but was told I had to still pay shipping.

Well I saw the sale yesterday and noted the price including shipping and tax for the King bed we wanted was $940 (no mattress topper however). For under one thousand dollars I can justify it as a Christmas present to my wife, I will derive much pleasure from. Ordered one yesterday!

One note the first poster stated the price was $975 and you could add a 20% discount to that, but it is somewhat misleading. The catalog does state $975 as the price but in smaller print notes a $200 dollar shipping charge. The website states the price as $1,175 for the W plush type mattress set. The actual price including shipping and tax is $940 with the 20% discount.
